After a ten-week contest between six teams for the title of Mokokchung Friday League Season 2 champions, Revenant FC defended its title with success as the football competition drew to an end on Friday at the Assam Rifle Ground in Mokokchung.
Beginning on 30 September, the league was held under the theme ‘35 & Kicking’.
Revenant FC received the trophy, citations and a monetary reward of Rs 20,000 while runner-up Senso Sporting Club received citations and a monetary reward of Rs 10,000.
Individual awards were given to Imnanukshi from New Ecclesia for Best Defender, Chuba Nokdir from Wasang FC for Best Goalkeeper, Rongsenchiba from Revenant FC for Highest Goal Scorer with 19 goals, and Tsüpongtsuba from Senso Sporting Club for the Player of the League title.
Mokokchung Friday League intends to bring people and players aged 35 and up together via football. It is a health-conscious project that encourages adults aged 35 and up to adopt a healthy lifestyle by playing football. The league was initiated by five football-crazed friends: Jamonger, Lipokyanger, Imliwabang, L Anungba Imchen, and Imtiyanger Imsong.
The league’s inaugural season, which began on 6 May 2022, featured six teams: New Ecclesia FC, Aturar FC, Revenant FC, Royal Enfield Mokokchung (name changed to Wasang FC in 2nd season), Senso Sporting Club and Terokroker FC.
The same teams participated in Season 2 as well.
