Mokokchung: Man, toddler burnt to death in truck accident near Changki village

Kohima: The burning truck was brought under control by the search party and the bodies along with a burnt human liver was recovered, a press release from Mokokchung SP informed.

In an unfortunate incident, a man and a toddler (boy, 2/3-year-old) were burnt to death after the truck they were traveling in met with an accident and rolled down a gorge approximately 200 feet below the road on National Highway 702 D near Changki village in Mokokchung district on 16 March.

The burning truck was brought under control by the search party and the bodies along with a burnt human liver was recovered, a press release from Mokokchung SP informed.

The bodies were burnt beyond recognition and could not be identified, while one injured person was shifted to the hospital for treatment.

On enquiry, it was found that the truck was loaded with FCI rice and heading towards Tuensang from Dimapur along with one male and female with a child, who boarded the truck from Rangajan in Assam.

A case has also been registered in this connection at Mangkolemba Police Station and is under investigation.

The dead bodies and burnt human pars were shifted to the morgue of District Hospital, Mokokchung for post-mortem after completion of all legal formalities.

Claimants, relatives/friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the officer-in-charge, Mangkolemba PS at 7630856828.
