Mokokchung Police register 48 cases, arrest 67 persons in 2025

Mokokchung Police registered a total of 48 cases and arrested 67 persons during the period from January 1 to December 31, 2025, according to crime statistics released by the PRO and Additional Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung.

Of the total cases registered, 29 fell under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These included eight cases of theft, seven vehicle accident cases, three cheating cases, two cases each of kidnapping and hurt, and one case each of rape, extortion, outraging the modesty of a woman, and criminal trespass. Three cases were registered under other IPC sections. No cases of murder or attempt to murder were reported during the year.

The remaining 19 cases were registered under special and local laws. These comprised 14 cases under the NDPS Act, two cases under the Arms Act, and one case each under the NLTP Act, POCSO Act, and IT Act.
Under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, police registered one regular case along with 51 criminal complaints.

Seizures during the year included 42,105 bottles of rum, 381 bottles of whisky, 16,692 cans of beer, 48 bottles of Breezer, and 240 bottles of vodka. A total of 55 persons were arrested in connection with NLTP-related cases.

In NDPS-related cases, police registered 14 cases and arrested 21 persons. Seizures included 262.5 grams of brown sugar/heroin, 951 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon, 4,240 tablets of alprazolam, 60 tablets of Spasmonil, 39 tablets of nitrazepam, 189.86 grams of opium, and 111.34 grams of ganja.

Under the Arms Act, two cases were registered, leading to the arrest of seven persons. Arms and ammunition seized included one M4 rifle, two .32 pistols (country-made), one .22 pistol, one .22 rifle (country-made), 30 live rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, six live rounds of .32 mm, 20 live rounds of .22 mm, and four magazines.
