In recognition of their remarkable dedication to the betterment of society, the Royal Enfield Mokokchung (REM) awarded its coveted Honorary Award 2023 to the Mokokchung Press Club (MPC). The award ceremony took place on October 2 at the Top Floor Café in Mokokchung, where Limalenden Longkumer, President of the Mokokchung Press Club, received the award from REM’s Chief, Moatemjen.
The REM Honorary Award is a token of appreciation presented to groups, organizations, and individuals for their selfless contributions to society and their unwavering commitment to its welfare. In this instance, the fifth REM Honorary Award of 2023 was granted to MPC in acknowledgment of their sacrifices and invaluable contributions to society. It is important to note that REM, not only dedicated to motorcycle riding and exploration but also to social service, works in tandem with District Administration and various groups throughout the year to undertake meaningful social initiatives.
In his acceptance speech, Limalenden Longkumer, President of the Mokokchung Press Club, emphasized the unique roles of the Royal Enfield Mokokchung and MPC. He remarked that REM members “Ride to Unite,” while MPC members “write to unite.” He expressed deep gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon the media community in Mokokchung, highlighting that the press often faces more criticism than appreciation.
Limalenden Longkumer voiced his hope that such acts of recognition would inspire the media to fulfill their duties with even greater diligence and encouraged REM to continue their selfless service to society. He also shared insights into the MPC’s humble beginnings in 2008 with just eight members, which has since grown to 13 dedicated individuals.
He candidly acknowledged that journalism is one of the least lucrative professions in Nagaland, but the passion, love for society, and the desire to inform citizens drive media professionals to persevere. In addition to advocating for the welfare of the media community, the Mokokchung Press Club is committed to showcasing Mokokchung to the world.
