In a brief ceremony held today at Rotary House Mokokchung, the Rotary Club of Mokokchung paid tribute to the invaluable contributions of educators with the prestigious Nation Builder Award 2023. Jonglemdong Longkumer Sr, SDEO Mokokchung, graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
Five exceptional teachers in Mokokchung namely Imnajungshi Changkiri (GHSS, MBA), Tianaro Longkumer (Eden Academy), Limachawa Merachiba Memorial GHS Merangkong), Obanglemla (Christian Residential Higher Secondary School), and Merangnaro (Baptist HSS Mangkolemba) received the Award.
In his address, Jonglemdong Longkumer Sr acknowledged the Rotary Club’s commendable efforts in recognizing and honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to society. He highlighted the crucial role of teachers and remarked, “Teachers are the builders of the nation.”
Viewing that teachers stand alongside esteemed professions such as engineers, doctors and many other professions in shaping the future, the SDEO noted, “A teacher’s mindset is not captive by tradition or religion. Teachers are always ready to embrace and educate individuals from diverse backgrounds, treating them like their own children.”
He continued, “Teachers mold their students with care, fostering good citizenship and preventing social problems.” Jonglemdong praised teachers for their unwavering optimism and their ability to spark interest even in the most reserved students, thus molding individuals who can lead self-sufficient lives.

Highlighting the influential role of teachers where they serve as facilitators and role models for every student, Jonglemdong also appealed the teachers to fulfill their roles diligently.

The event concluded with Rtn I. Temsu Jamir, Chair of the Literary Committee, presenting awards to the selected teachers. The program commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, led by Rtn Tiarenla Jamir, President of RC Mokokchung, and featured a special song performance by Eden Academy school, Mokokchung. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Rtn Rongsentoshi Jamir, Rotary India Literacy Mission.
