The Mokokchung Traffic Police took a significant step in improving traffic safety in Mokokchung town. They were assisted by volunteers from the Two-Wheeler Taxi Union. Today, they successfully installed new traffic signages around the town, aiming to ensure a cleaner and more informed commuting experience for both locals and tourists.

The initiative was carefully planned to coincide with the approaching auspicious festival of the Ao Naga “Tsüngremmong” and the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations. Taking advantage of the lesser traffic and public movement on Sundays, the Traffic Police department seized the opportunity to carry out the installation.

Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, OC of Traffic Police Mokokchung highlighted the positive impacts of this move. The new and renovated no parking signboards are expected to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and encourage smoother traffic flow. Mayang Longkumer, a Two-Wheeler Taxi driver as well as the Vice President of MDTWTA praised the initiative and acknowledged how it would benefit their association and the public at large.

Longkumer urged daily commuters to cooperate by adhering to traffic rules and avoiding haphazard parking. By respecting no parking zones and following the signages, commuters can contribute to a safer and more efficient road environment, benefiting everyone. He emphasized that working hand in hand to create a better commuting experience is essential for all stakeholders involved.

With these new signages in place, Mokokchung is set to witness improved traffic management and a safer road network. The combined efforts of the Traffic Police and the Two-Wheeler Taxi Union are expected to pave the way for a smoother and more enjoyable travel experience for residents and visitors alike.
