Yimyu Ward Sanitation Committee of Mokokchung Town and Yimyu Baptist Church joined hands to organize an innovative awareness program on sanitation on Sunday at YBC on the theme, “Wash Yourselves, Make Yourselves Clean – Isaiah 1:16”.
The theme speaker, Akok Walling, in his address, emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean soul and upholding moral values, drawing wisdom from the biblical verse Isaiah 1:16. He commended the Sanitation Committee for taking the initiative to host such a program, stressing that cleanliness should be integrated into all aspects of life, encompassing both spiritual and physical well-being.
The event explored the significance of holistic cleanliness, encompassing the soul, life, and health, as urged by 1st Thessalonians 5: 23. Walling urged attendees to prioritize their health and recognize the interconnectedness of physical and spiritual cleanliness.
Drawing from compelling historical and contemporary examples, he highlighted the relevance of sanitation in today’s world, particularly in the aftermath of the Covid pandemic. He emphasized the need to rid oneself of all unnecessary baggage, from domestic to agricultural waste, which hinders a healthy life and spirit.
Puryapang, Pastor of YBC, offered a heartfelt prayer, seeking blessings upon the Sanitation Committee for their unwavering commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
Aolepden, Chairman of the Sanitation Committee, while welcoming the participants, emphasized the importance of embracing a healthy lifestyle. He expressed the Committee’s determination to promote a cleaner ward and encouraged the public to actively support their efforts.
The program also featured an engaging painting competition organized by the Child Department of Yimyu Baptist Church in collaboration with the Sanitation Committee, with prizes awarded to talented young artists.
The collaboration between the Yimyu Ward Sanitation Committee and Yimyu Baptist Church took a significant step in raising awareness about the values of cleanliness and morality in everyday life. By combining spiritual guidance with practical knowledge, the program successfully inspired attendees to adopt a cleaner and more conscientious way of living.
With 22 dedicated members in the committee, their joint initiative serves as a shining example for communities everywhere to prioritize sanitation, not only in public spaces but also within the depths of their souls. Together, they set forth to create a healthier, cleaner, and more harmonious environment while upholding the teachings of God and enriching lives with purpose and meaning.
