A fire broke out Longwa Village in Mon district on Tuesday night causing damages to four houses.
According to Mon Battalion of Assam Rifles, a house near the chief Angh’s caught fire at around 10:00 pm and was spreading rapidly to the other houses in the neighbourhood. On getting the information, the Longwa post of AR promptly intervened and contained the blaze on time.

One house was “heavily damaged” and three more suffered damages in the incident, the AR informed. The main house was made of bamboo and toko patta (leaf), it added.
However, due to the timely reaction from the AR, the houses in the close cluster including the chief Angh’s house were saved.
The villagers of Longwa expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for the help, to which the Mon Battalion stated that it remains committed to safeguard lives and extend a helping hand in times of need.
