Mon DMHP observes World Mental Health Day

Mon: Awareness events on mental health conducted in almost all schools churches in Mon town since launch of DMHP

Under the directive of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) Mon, observed the World Mental Health Day with the theme “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace” at Conference Hall, District Hospital Mon, on 10th October 2024.

CMO, Mon Dr. Supongmenla, thanked the DMHP, Mon for organising the programme and also for their activities in Mon District, which was launched three years back. She said that depression, anxiety and frustration for numerous reasons, lead to mental health issues which are very concerning. Explaining on the theme, she stated that to create a supportive environment in the workplace. She also requested to create awareness about mental illness.

Clinical Psychologist, DHMP, Mon, Linokali Sumi, gave a presentation on glimpse of DHMP, Mon. She said that DHMP, Mon was started on 1st June 2021. Since then, awareness and workshops on mental health were conducted in almost all the schools and churches in Mon town. A short video of their activities, which was conducted, was also highlighted.

Loungnyem Konyak, Psychologist Social Worker, DHMP, Mon chaired the programme. Earlier, painting and exhortation competition were conducted and prizes were distributed.
