General (DR) V K Singh (Retd), Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation, Government of India visited Mon District and had a review meeting of National Highway Projects in Mon District with the District Administration and Head of Offices of Mon District at DC’s Conference Hall Mon on Monday, DIPR stated.
The Union Minister said that for development and quality works in the district, local contractors are better as they have more knowledge about the District. He encouraged them to introduce entrepreneur workshops and train people who want to get into such businesses so that they can take all types of contracts. Singh also added that after 2014 the central government gave greater attention to North East and now connectivity is better, and things are moving. Therefore, he urged them to reach the lower level where the development is poor. He urged them to ensure that government activity is implemented in quality.
There was also an interaction with all the heads of offices and Gen V K Singh also visited the District Hospital Mon after the meeting.
S. Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha warmly welcomed the Union Minister of State, head of offices of Mon District, and expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his visit to Mon. Temjennaro Longkumer, NCS ADC (HQ) gave a brief description of Mon District.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma.
