In the first Quarterfinal of the 5th Mokokchung Inter-ward Football Tournament, Artang defeated Majakong with a scoreline of 3-1. Despite Imkongnungkum (Jersey no. 15) of Majakong netting the opening goal in the 15th minute, Alemjungba (Jersey no. 21) equalized for Artang in the 26th minute, tallying 5 goals in the tournament so far. Chubalemba then added two more goals in the 53rd and 65th minutes respectively to seal the game.

In the second Quarterfinal, Mongsenbai clashed against Sangtemla in a captivating encounter, with Mongsenbai emerging victorious with a narrow 1-0 scoreline. The defending champions, Sangtemla, gave their all against Mongsenbai, the third edition winner. Longkhoi (Jersey no. 7) sealed the win for Mongsenbai with the sole goal of the match in the 10th minute.

The upcoming fourth and fifth Quarterfinals are scheduled between Arkong versus Alempang, and Sungkomen versus Tongdentsuyong, respectively, on March 19.

Tarepnungsang from Sungkomen ward leads the tournament in goals scored with 8, closely followed by Alemjungba from Artang with 5 goals. While Artang has entered the semifinals, “Will Sungkomen or Tongdentsuyong secure a spot in the semifinals?”

Also, this year’s edition has shown dominance from teams like Artang from Pool A, Arkong from Pool B, Tongdentsuyong, and Mongsenbai from Pool C, Sangtemla, and Sungkomen from Pool D. However, the defending champion, Sangtemla, has been knocked out of the tournament by Mongsenbai today to enter the semi-final.
