Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, George Kurian visited Tuensang district in eastern Nagaland on March 1 and 2
During the visit, the Union Minister visited Fish Farm Thimka at Tuensang village and interacted with the fish farmers. He also inspected the fishery pond and hatchery tank at the farm.
DFO Tuensang Mhomo Murry highlighted key concerns faced by the department such as bad road connectivity, infrastructure and need of more fishery ponds for better yielding. The official also informed that there are more than 80 marginal fish farming in and around the Thimka Fish Farm.
The minister also visited the District Hospital Tuensang and Parade Ground Tuensang, and later interacted with tribal leaders, civil society and the BJP Party Unit from Tuensang.
On Monday, the minister an interaction with the heads of the offices under Tuensang district at the DC’s Conference Hall, Tuensang. He discussed varied subjects with the officials including the infant mortality rate, immunization, public distribution system, skills development, nutrition, PM Kisan, PMAY-G, SHGs, educational system and National Highway 202. Kurian said the Prime Minister of India is deeply committed for the development of Northeast region and the Central Government is ready to assist the state government in infrastructure development and financial assistance for the welfare of the people.

He also appreciated the works rendered by the officers of the district and urged them to continuously work with sincerity and dedication for the welfare of the district.
The Union Minister also visited St. John Higher Secondary School Tuensang and had an interactive session with the students.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa in her welcome address expressed gratitude to the Union Minister on behalf of the people of Tuensang.
