The Department of Political Science, Mount Tiyi College, Wokha organised an interactive session on Urban Local Self-Government with Renbomo Ezung, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Wokha and Executive Officer, Wokha Town Council as resource person. The interactive session was based on ‘Functionaries of Rural and Urban Local Self-Government,’ which is a component of 1st Semester Skill Enhancement Course, Political Science.

During the interactive session, the resource person emphasised on the types of urban local self-government bodies, composition, qualifications, grounds for disqualifications, and functions of town councils in the context of Nagaland. Reservation, nomination, funding, revenue and challenges faced by the town councils were also highlighted.
The resource person encouraged the students to be responsible citizens by extending their cooperation to the town councillors for the betterment of Wokha Town.
