An Archery program was launched on September 15 at Mount Tiyi College (MTC), Wokha by Mhathung Yanthan, MLA & Advisor, Agriculture, Government of Nagaland. Introduced by the District Sports Council, the Archery Program has been established in memory of Lt. Dr K.Mehta, a former principal of Mount Tiyi College. The equipments for the Archery program has also been provided by the Council
Launching the archery program, MLA & Advisor, Agriculture Government of Nagaland, Mhathung Yanthan spoke briefly on how archery is closely associated with the lives of tribal people. Yanthan shared an optimism that Wokha district will excel and outshine other districts in the sport.
Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, in his short speech exhorted the students that concentration and focus are essential skills required in the sports of Archery citing the example of Arjuna, the famous archer in the Mahabharata. K Libemo Jami, DYRO cum DSO, Wokha, mentioned about the various opportunities that the State government is opening up in the field of sports, and encouraged the students to take up sports as a profession.

In her welcome address, Dr. Bweyhunle Khing, Principal, Mount Tiyi College touched upon the history of archery as a sport and its multiple benefits.
The short programme was chaired by Dr. K. Zumomo Ovung, Associate Professor & HoD Dept. Of Economics while the vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr. Libemo Kithan, Associate professor, Department of History.
