Member of Lok Sabha S Supongmeren Jamir raised the issue of Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) in the Lok Sabha on 9th August 2024.

The MP presented a brief history of the decade long demand of the Eastern Naga People’s Organisation (ENPO) and expressed disappointment with the Government of India’s failure to go through with its promises made to the people of Eastern Nagaland on more than one occasion in the recent past, the Communications Department of NPCC informed in a press release.

Jamir also mentioned that the ENPO had abstained from participating in the 2024 Parliamentary Election and also the recently held Urban Local Body elections in the state and “cautioned the August House about the possible adverse socio-political fallouts in the state if the matter is not addressed promptly”.

Further, the lone MP from Nagaland has solicited a response from the Union Home Ministry explaining the latest positions with respect to the Draft of the Memorandum of Settlement and Draft of Working Paper (DWP) for Frontier Nagaland Territory, signed between the Government of India, Government of Nagaland and ENPO.

The Lok Sabha Speaker had earlier disallowed Jamir to raise questions on the two agreements signed between the Government of India and Naga Political Groups on the grounds that the information sough under the questions were secret in nature.
