MP Supongmeren Jamir visits landslide site under Dzüdza village, Kohima District

Kohima: Jamir assures to pressurise higher authorities to expedite necessary road repairs

S. Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), today, visited the landslide site under Dzüdza village in Kohima district on the National Highway 29. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Joint Secretary (Road & Bridges) Government of Nagaland, Executive Engineer (NH), Kohima, the Additional Superintendent of Police, Kohima and NHIDCL officials.

The Communications Department, NPCC, informed that during the visit, he met with the Dzüdza Village Council, where the council members shared their concerns and outlined the efforts they have been making to manage the situation at the local level.

Jamir also met with the Western Angami People’s Organisation leaders and welcomed their opinions and inputs, appreciating their ongoing efforts in addressing the challenges posed by the landslide. The MP assured the villagers and local organisations that he would pressurise the higher authorities to expedite the necessary repairs and ensure that the road is restored urgently.

During the interaction, the contractors entrusted with the construction and maintenance of the affected stretch of road assured the MP of all necessary interventions to ensure prompt repair and restoration of the affected area, the Communications Department, NPCC stated.

Expressing concern over the disruption caused by the landslide, Jamir underscored the need for swift action to restore normalcy and ensure the safety of the residents and commuters who rely on this critical roadway.

In another development, the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) team, under the leadership of Working President Keviphreo K Kuotsu, today visited the stranded vehicles at the Dzüdza landslide site. The team, in a show of solidarity and support, provided refreshments to the travellers who were caught in the unfortunate situation.

During the visit, Keviphreo K Kuotsu and the NPYC team interacted with the stranded travellers, offering them words of encouragement and assuring them of the NPYC’s continued support.
