MP Supongmeren reviews landslide situation in Phesama, urges swift restoration of road connectivity

Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), S Supongmeren Jamir, held a high-level meeting with Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of Jakhama to assess the current situation in Phesama village, under Kohima district where a major landslide has disrupted road access.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner apprised the MP on the prompt actions being undertaken in coordination with the Village Council of Phesama and the affected landowners to ensure early clearance and restoration of the blocked roads. The MP expressed concern over the disruption caused to commuters and stressed the need for expedited measures.

The discussions also included the ongoing challenges surrounding the bypass road connecting Packages 1 to 4. Officials from the district administration highlighted that efforts are underway to address land-related and technical issues by engaging with stakeholders, including landowners, contractors, and representatives from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

Appreciating the proactive approach of the district administration, Jamir urged for coordinated and time-bound action to expedite the restoration of road connectivity. He stressed that the affected route plays a critical role in regional transport and must be reopened at the earliest for the public and regional transport.
