MTBA Dedicates IBS Boys’ Hostel in Celebration of ABAM’s 150 Years of Christianity

Mokokchung: Hostel completed within impressive timespan of just 6 months

In a momentous occasion, the Dedicatory Programme of the Boys’ Hostel at Impur Bible Seminary was held on July 20, 2023. The cornerstone of the hostel was unveiled by Prof Rev Dr Mar Pongener, the ABAM Executive Secretary, amid a gathering of esteemed guests and members of the church.

The construction of the Boys’ Hostel was initiated on January 2, 2023, and it was completed within an impressive timespan of just 6 months, finishing on June 29, 2023. The hostel, built in commemoration of ABAM’s 150 years of Christianity to the AOs, stands as a testament to the commitment and unity of the Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo (MTBA) and the broader community.

The building, with a length of 90 ft and a breadth of 30 ft, boasts a ground floor with three rooms and one toilet, a first floor with four rooms and five toilets, and a top floor housing a room designated for study and chapel hall activities.

The estimated construction cost of the building, inclusive of 35 bunk beds accommodating 70 students, an inverter, fans, curtains, 100 chairs, 1 podium, and 2 water tanks, was reported to be 77,54,000/- based on the 2016 PWD Schedule of Rates (SOR).

Raj Mohan Das, the contractor, along with the skilful efforts of masons and 2250 labourers, ensured the successful completion of the Boys’ Hostel.

During the dedication ceremony, Imtilemla, the Principal of Impur Bible Seminary, expressed profound gratitude to the Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo and the entire community for their unwavering support throughout the construction process. She emphasized that the history of Impur Bible Seminary would be incomplete without acknowledging the significant contributions of MTBA.

Prof Rev Dr Mar Pongener, in his speech, acknowledged the exceptional dedication of the church in glorifying God through the construction of the Boys’ Hostel. He also expressed gratitude to all the well-wishers and donors who generously contributed to this noble project.

Nungshi Pongen, former Headmaster of the erstwhile Impur Bible School, graced the occasion with his presence, adding to the historical significance of the event.

The program was chaired by Rev Temsuwati Kichu from MTBA, and Tev Yapang Molier, the Secretary of Church & Mission, ABAM, delivered the invocation. The construction committee’s report was presented by Imchatiba, the Convenor Deacon. A special song was beautifully performed by the students of Impur Bible Seminary.

AO Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) conveyed their deepest appreciation to MTBA and all the well-wishers for their invaluable support in constructing the Boys’ Hostel as part of the Sesquicentennial celebration of ABAM’s 150 years of Christianity.

The completion of this Boys’ Hostel stands as a testament to the collective efforts and commitment of the community in nurturing and fostering the growth of the Impur Bible Seminary, ensuring a bright future for the young minds pursuing their studies in the seminary.
