The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (Mokokchung Town Youth Organisation) today condemned unruly mob that vandalized the Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung (IMDH) hospital properties on October 18 evening.
“Such vandalism of a place of healing is totally unwarranted and unacceptable under any circumstance. Such unruly action has created a fear psychosis in the minds of the health workers in the IMDH and might have had a negative impact on the fragile health of the patients admitted in the hospital,” stated the MTLT.
It requested all the right thinking citizens or organizations to “detest from attacking public places”, especially healthcare institutions, as it would ultimately hurt the general wellbeing of the public.
At the same time, the organization also expressed deep anguish over the tragic shooting incident where one Longshang Konyak lost his life on October 17.
“The MTLT expresses our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and at the same time expresses the Mokokchung Police for taking prompt action and expediting the case. The Telongjem demands the law enforcing agencies to thoroughly investigate into the case and deliver justice at the earliest,” stated the Organization.
Expressing regret on the turn of events over the past couple of days, the Organization exuded the hope that good sense will prevail as people await the law enforcing agencies to deliver justice.

IMDH Mokokchung condemns
The hospital authority of Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung (IMDH) and Chest Diseases & TB Hospital, Mokokchung today expressed deep concern and condemnation over the recent incident where damage to hospital property was caused by a mob of people on the evening of October 18.
“Such acts of violence and vandalism not only endanger the wellbeing of patients and staffs but also inflict lasting damage on vital healthcare infrastructure that serves the community in times of need. Hospitals are sanctuaries of healing, places where compassion and care should prevail over chaos and destruction,” asserted the Medical Superintendent of IMDH.
Stating that such behaviour by the mob not only undermines the values of respect, empathy and cooperation of any civilized society but also jeopardise the healthcare ecosystem, the Medical Superintendent expressed hope that all individuals and organizations will condemn such acts and care for public property as their own personal property so that such acts can be prevented in the future.
