The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (Mokokchung Town Youth Organisation) has condemned the disturbing incident involving two police personnel who harassed a minor child and subsequently threatened the parents on the intervening evenings of July 25 and 26 in the heart of Mokokchung town.

“The MTLT takes strong note of this incident as it involves two law enforcement personnel/law keepers of the society who in an inebriated state harassed a young child, aged 6 years, returning from tuition classes along with her elder sister, on the evening of July 25,” stated the MTLT in press release issued today.

The Organization raised concern over the fact that the two erring personnel came back to the innocent child’s home and threatened the parents using physical force.

“Whatever their intention or reason might be, their action is unjustified, condemnable and totally unacceptable. On visit to the aggrieved family, the MTLT sadly noted that the young innocent child has developed a fear psychosis which would hamper her life in the long run,” asserted the MTLT.

Wishing the victim speedy recovery, the Organization assured that the Youth of Mokokchung Town will stand by her in the pursuit of justice.

The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem also warned that it will be closely monitoring the case and is ready to take any responsibility in ensuring that Mokokchung remains a peaceful society safe from any anti-social activities perpetuated by state and non-state actors.

“The MTLT demands the concern authority to dispense justice at the earliest,” added the press release.
