The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) called on the Executive Engineer, PWD (National Highways), Mokokchung Division at his office chamber on October 27 and highlighted the pathetic condition of the roads in the town and beyond.
A healthy discussion ensued where views, opinions, and concerns were shared on how to improve the roads since the monsoon season is over and the festive season is approaching.
The MTLT strongly stressed the need for the Department to assess the damage caused by the monsoon rains and to repair the damaged roads within a specified time period.
On the road condition between Sewak Gate–DEF, Chuchuyimpang (National Highway-61, renamed NH-2), the Department officials and Contractor (M/s Trident Enterprises) assured that the repair works would be completed by the end of November 2025. The MTLT reminded the contractor of their obligations under the Defect Liability Period (DLP) of their contract agreement and to honor the terms in letter and in spirit.

Acknowledging that the monsoon season halted repair works and caused major damage to the roads in and around the town, the Telongjem stressed that with the start of dry season, the concerned authorities should initiate the repair works without any delay.
Meanwhile, the MTLT is ready to render all assistance, even deploy volunteers if need be, during the road repair works.
The MTLT also urged the citizens of Mokokchung town to bear with the inconveniences caused during the repair period and also appealed to all to cooperate with the concerned department and the contractor.
