Multi Skill Lab upgraded and inaugurated at GHSS Diphupar ‘A’

The upgraded Multi Skill Lab at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Diphupar ‘A’, Chümoukedima, was inaugurated on November 17. The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal, GHSS, Diphupar.

Special Guest, Abhinav Das, CSR Regional Lead of LIC Housing Finance Ltd.   expressed deep appreciation for being part of a project aimed at empowering the youth of Nagaland.

He said the idea for a dedicated skill-development initiative in the state emerged during his routine field visits, where he observed the increasing need for practical training, especially in light of rising dropout rates and the growing relevance of AI-based and hands-on learning.

Das, highlighted LIC HFL’s commitment to strengthening the skill ecosystem in the Northeast through its CSR initiatives, he said the newly upgraded lab is part of the organisation’s broader vision to build sustainable training models that connect learning to livelihoods. He praised Lend a Hand India and Samagra Shiksha Nagaland for their effective coordination and on-ground implementation.

“Our goal,” he said, is to ensure that young people step forward with confidence, equipped with skills that prepare them not just for jobs, but for meaningful and self-reliant futures.

Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, L. JamithungLotha, described the upgraded lab as a testimony to the state’s growing commitment to future-ready education. He said that modern skill labs play a vital role in bridging the gap between classroom knowledge and real-life application, enabling students to learn by doing.

Lotha emphasised that the facility will not only support vocational learning but also nurture creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students. Appreciating the support of LIC Housing Finance Ltd. and Lend a Hand India, he noted that such partnerships demonstrate how collective action can create lasting educational impact.

He further acknowledged the school administration, teachers, trainers, and technical teams for ensuring the smooth establishment of the lab. He said this initiative is a stepping stone toward building a confident, skilled generation who will contribute meaningfully to society and the state’s development.

Following the speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the multi skill lab was held, after which guests toured the upgraded lab. Students presented live demonstrations of various skill activities, showcasing their training modules and engaging with the visiting officials. The programme concluded with lunch prepared by the Tourism & Hospitality vocational students of the school.
