Naga Army led NSCN-K elect Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Ang Mai as its chairman

Kohima: Maj. Gen. Langnyei Konyak says Naga Army running NSCN/GPRN government since 10 April 2023

The NSCN-K that split from NSCN-K (YA) has elected Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Ang Mai from Tangshang Region as its Chairman, a press release from Maj. Gen. Langnyei Konyak, GSO-1 (D), Naga Army, NSCN/GPRN informed.

The new chairman was “unanimously elected” by civil and military officers during an emergency meeting on 27 June 2023 at the General Head Quarter of the Naga Army.

It was also informed that 50-years-old Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Ang Mai was the personal secretary of late S.S. Khaplang who also served in different post and portfolios like home minister and other military assignment.

Maj. Gen. Langnyei Konyak stated that the Naga Army had been running the NSCN/GPRN government since 10 April 2023 when it “deposed Yung Aung from the chairmanship of the party for his anti-national and anti-party activities which is totally against the Yezhabo of the NSCN/GPRN.”

The GSO has also requested Nagas “to co-operate and contribute Your valuable service under the Leadership of Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Ang Mai to continue the Naga National struggle following the foot-steps of our Great Leader late BABA S.S. Khaplang.”
