The Royal Enfield Motorcycle riders from the North Eastern states of India will be congregating in Nagaland for the North East Riders Meet (NERM) 2022. The event, which had been postponed for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will be hosted by Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC) from 3rd to 5th December 2022 , coinciding with Nagaland’s annual Hornbill Festival.

This will be the 12th edition of NERM, the last been held in 2019 at Chalfih, Mizoram and hosted by Aizawl Thunders Bullet Club.

NERM is an event governed by North East Alliance of Riders (NEAR) and is primarily meant as a meet of Royal Enfield (RE) clubs and riders from the North Eastern states. However, organisers confirm that the Meet is open to all RE riders from all over the country. The organisers have said that the mega NERM 2022 has already received registrations from states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi, Orissa, Ladakh and even from India’s neighbour Bhutan.

Organisers state that NERM is dedicated to building relationships and exchanging cultures, knowledge and information among the riding community from all over the country. Apart from bonding of the fraternity, the event also promotes tourism to the North Eastern states of India as a whole and the hosting state in particular.

Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC) has been making extensive preparations for months to host NERM 2022, which is set to be the biggest NERM in the history of NEAR. With over 1800 riders having already registered to join and many more expected, this Meet is destined to be one never witnessed before.

NERM has come a long way since its very first Meet hosted by the Assam Rhino Club at Assam’s Kaziranga in 2009 attended by pioneering 20 riders.

It would seem that if NERM 2020 was held as planned, it may had been memorable because it was to be part of NMC’s 10th foundation year, but the 2022 edition is anticipated to more than make up for it. Noune Resort, Seithekiema- A Village, Chümoukedima, will be the venue for the event and the celebrations and festivities that had been pending.

NMC came into existence on 7 November 2010, “for the pure passion of biking, adventure and the love of the legendary motorcycle brand ROYAL ENFIELD.” In 2022, the Club has 98 Naga Chiefs under 4 units – Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng and Tuensang – riding under the banner “One Machine, One Road, One Mind”.

For NMC, this is the second time they will be organising NERM. The club had previously played host to the 4th edition of the Meet at Kohima and Dimapur in 2012 which was attended by 280 riders.

As for Nagaland, the state is ready to welcome the riders and their beasts at NERM 2022 ‘REVIBE’. The ground awaits to be shaken.
