Naga groups condemn Assamese song performed at Bihu function in Guwahati

Guwahati: The officials of the Assam cultural affairs department has said that it’s a traditional Bihu song that has nothing to hurt the Naga community

The All Assam Tangsa Students Union (AATSU) and All Assam Naga Welfare Society (AANWS) have strongly condemned the Bihu Song performed during Bihu festival celebrations at Assam’s Guwahati.

Reacting to the song AATSU said “the sentiments of Naga people living in Assam since time immemorial are hurt by a Bihu song performed by Bihu exponent Ranjit Gogoi at the event.”

The lyrics of the song: “Nogar sange sage bogai nu moi asilu..Nogai nu alu kochu khai…okora Nogake bhinihi buli matilu majoni oi Naginike bulilu bai,” is a hurtful and insulting to the Naga community said AANWS.

Meanwhile, the officials of the Assam cultural affairs department, which organised the event, clarified that it’s a traditional Bihu song. “It has nothing to hurt the Naga community.
