Naga Hoho questions BJP led GoI for unfulfilled commitment of ‘Election for Solution’

With the forthcoming general election at the threshold, the Naga Hoho has once again questioned the sincerity and habitual rhetoric of the Government of India with regard to the Indo-Naga political settlement and shying away from the ethos of “deceitful marriage” at this crucial moment of Indo-Naga political discourse.

As solution seems to elude the Naga people without finding out any tangible settlement, the Hoho stated, the GoI is well aware that more than 25 years have gone ever since the signing of the Indo-Naga ceasefire with the objective of bringing about an Indo-Naga political settlement. However, the GoI continues to ease Naga people with false promises by wielding the draconian laws, the Hoho added.

The Naga Hoho observed that the BJP led government has diluted the trust and faith of the Nagas by not addressing the wishes of the Nagas for a lasting solution to the Indo-Naga political problem as made in their commitment for ‘Election for Solution’ during the run up of the 2018 State general election in Nagaland.

The silence and the runaround of the GoI is disgraceful to the people that have trusted the word of GoI as Nagas are yet to see the light despite more than eight years of BJP rule, it stated.

The Naga Hoho also asserted that the grand signing of the ‘Framework Agreement’ on 3 August 2015 and the acknowledgement by the Prime Minister of India has turned into a dark history as the Naga Peace Accord which is believed to be at its final stage and likely to culminate anytime now seems to be an unending political negotiation.

Recalling the 18-month time period given by the prime minister of India to bring Indo-Naga political solution after the assumption of the Prime Minister’s office in 2014, the Naga Hoho stated, “India has employed the colonial policy of further divides and fragmentation of the Naga people despite recognition of Naga political problem as unique situation and history.”
