Naga Peoples Front celebrates 62nd Foundation Day in Kohima

The Naga Peoples Front honored its 62nd Foundation Day on the 21st October, 2024, at the NPF Central Headquarters in Kohima. In his presidential address, Party President Apong Pongener remarked that on the day of 21st October, 1963, a group of visionary Naga leaders, led by A. Kevichüsa, established the first Naga regional political party in the newly formed Nagaland state. This marked the beginning of the journey for this pioneering regional political party.

He expressed pride in being part of the oldest regional political party in Northeast India, the second oldest in India after the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) of Tamil Nadu. He said their party is passing through a challenging phase of its existence However he  reminded them  all that the party faced even worse of time in the past several years in one way or another and in such a time as this, he reminded them that they  all need concerted effort to stand firm for survival of the Party. He said it is no time for negative mindset of blind criticism and accusing one another. Rather, this a time for each and every one of the party men and women to reinvent their  thoughts and ideas for rejuvenation of the party to a reclaim the past glory.

“Today, the Party has completed 61 years of its existence, and, in spite of changing its nomenclatures, the original ideologies, aim and objectives, symbol (Rooster) and motto (Fide non armis) of the Party remained unchanged. “ he said. Further, he mentioned that Many regional political parties formed, came and gone,However, NPF stood the test of time and we are celebrating its 62nd Foundation Day today.

He said they might  be at the lowest ebb of their  popularity but he reminded the leaders of the Party men and women that, in everything that exist in this world, has its own time of recession and recovery. And, he believe that they are in time of recession today, and he believed that the Party shall come back to power sooner or later to see the light of the day once again stating It is just a cycle of time. He said this party is the very identity of the Nagas, and he believe that the God who brought them thus far shall continue to lead and guide us to fulfil our desired goal. He expressed honour and salute the Party Presidents, and sustained it till today:A. Kevichüsa,Huska Sumi,Rano Shaiza,Vamuzo,T. Aliba Imti,Dr. Shürhozelic Liezietsu and Vizol.

He also expressed joy and happiness to their two dynamic Legislators who represent their  party and 5 Legislators from Manipur State for their contribution in one way or another for survival of the Party and helping in flying the Party’s flag high for all these years stating them that Without them, their  Party would not have much impact as it is today. MLA and General Secretary Achumbemo Kikon emphasized the importance of Foundation Day.

MLA and NPFLP Leader Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu conveyed greetings for the occasion. The program began with an invocation by General Secretary P. Shing Khiam
