Naga shooter wins gold at 9th NE Shooting Championship 2022

Guwahati: The Championship was conducted by Assam Rifle Association under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India from 10 to 13 September

Khonchulo Woch won the gold medal in the 10M Air Pistol event at the 9th North East Zone Shooting Championship 2022. He was representing the Army Marksmanship Unit.

MLA and Advisor, Government of Nagaland, R Khing congratulated the sportsman, who also hails from Tseminyu District of Nagaland, on Twitter.

The Championship was organised by Assam Rifle Association under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India and was held at the Assam Sports Shooting Range, 4th AP Bn Complex, Kahilipara, Guwahati.

Khonchulo Woch from Tseminyu District won the gold medal in the 10M Air Pistol event.

Eight teams competed in the Championship; Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Army Marksman Unit and Assam Rifle Marksman Unit.

The Assam shooting team emerged as the overall champion winning 55 medals which included 24 gold medals. Mizoram and Manipur finished second and third respectively.

The Nagaland Rifle Association had earlier informed that seventeen shooters would be representing the state at the event, as per the rules and regulations of National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) match book 2022 (amended).

The team from Nagaland won ten medals overall at the shooting championship: one gold, seven silver and two bronze medals.
