Amidst speculations of discontent between alliance partners Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 14th Nagaland Assembly election, the two parties have come forward with a joint declaration to appeal to the the voters of Nagaland to cast their votes in favour of candidates contesting on NDPP and BJP tickets.
Nagaland Chief Minister and Leader of NDPP party Neiphiu Rio assured that NDPP party and the BJP as an alliance partner with the seat sharing formula of 40:20 will emerge victorious in the ensuing elections.

“We are facing 2023 general election in Nagaland and our coalition, NDPP and BJP, with seat sharing 40:20 and campaign indicates that we will be getting a thumping majority,” Rio said in a video posted on social media.
“There is some confusion about the rebel candidates but I appeal to all the voters to please vote for the alliance, NDPP and BJP and we will form the next government with a thumping majority,” he added.

Meanwhile, in the same video, Deputy Chief Minister Yanthugo Patton and BJP legislature party leader reiterated the same and said that the 2023 election with the alliance partners will get “thumping majority” and form the next government under the leadership Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Patton also added that alliance partners “will come with development, peace in the state of Nagaland.”

Benjamin Yepthomi, vice president of BJP Nagaland, later stated on twitter, “The NDPP-BJP alliance in Nagaland is as thick as blood”.
“Naysayers are busy with cheap propaganda while both parties are ready with the blueprint for peace, development and progress for the next term!” Yepthomi added.
BJP national secretary Rituraj Sinha alsotook to the micro blogging platform to request “people of Nagaland to ignore rebel candidates who are misguiding.”
