Kazheto Kinimi from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged the first official winner of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly election 2023 on Friday as his lone opponent N. Khekashe Sumi from Indian National Congress withdrew his candidature.

Kinimi was sitting MLA of the constituency and the Advisor to Civil Administrative Works Department (CAWD) and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).

Later in another message posted on social media, Kinimi thanked the people of 31 Akuluto A/C and BJP party workers “for their unflinching support” because of whom he has been elected uncontested, he said. He also thanked the national and state party leaders for their “faith in my abilities and their valuable guidance.”
