Wokha: An FIR is said to have been lodged in this matter

Incriminating evidence seized from the accused in Wokha on 21 February 2023.

Two agents of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were reportedly arrested in Wokha district for alleged bribing and buying votes on Tuesday.

As per reports, Janbemo Humtsoe and Zanbenthung Tungoe were caught red handed while in the act at GHSS Wokha where officials on Election duty to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly were casting their votes.

Casting of votes through Postal Ballot for officials on election duty began in the state on Monday.

According to sources, there were three persons but one managed to escape the scene, while his accomplices were grabbed and handed over to the police along with cash and other incriminating items.

The election agent of the BJP candidate of 38 Wokha Assembly Constituency later wrote to Wokha Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer complaining against the opposition party’s actions and urged action against those government servants who sold their votes. He also demanded that those votes be made invalid.

An FIR is said to have been lodged in this matter.
