The Janata Dal (United) released its first list of 8 candidates on Sunday for the forthcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections to be held on 27 February 2023.
The names of candidates included in the first list are Imsumongba Pongen for 4. Ghaspani-I A/C, Jwenga Seb for 12 Tseminyu A/C, Vipopal Kintso for 15 Southern Angami-II A/C, J. Lanu Longchar for 30 Alongtaki A/C, Senchumo Lotha for 37 Tyui A/C, Geihwang Konyak for 43 Tapi A/C, N. Thongwang Konyak for 46 Mon town A/C, and Ajungli Sangtam for 52 Longkhim Chare.
There was a debacle within the JDU party in Nagaland just last week where a number of its partymen officials accused the state party president Senchumo Lotha of “dictatorial attitude, offering no opportunity for participant input.”
Following this, the party has expelled Kitoho S Rotokha and threatened to initiate appropriate legal action against him for tarnishing the image of JDU in Nagaland.
Consequently, Rotokha joined Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) who has awarded the party ticket to contest the election from 5 Ghaspani-II.
N.Thongwang Konyak had earlier resigned from Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
