Benjamin Yepthomi, State President, BJP Nagaland has expressed condolences for the loss of the six precious lives and damage to several properties in the recent tragedy in Pherima, along Dimapur – Kohima NH– 29, on 3rd September, 2024.

He extended his appreciation to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for taking prompt response by convening a ‘High Level Committee Meeting’ on 4th September 2024 with the team concerned and also thanked the authorities for announcing ex-Gratia to the families of the deceased and financial assistance to the injured persons.

Benjamin also expressed gratitude to Pherima Village Youth, Police Personnel and Disaster Response Forces teams for their prompt action and effort in retrieving the bodies of the deceased stating their actions, “has truly exhibited the passion of the human spirit in times of crisis.” Acknowledging them he stated, “Your sacrifices are highly appreciated.”

He also appealed to the implementing agency, NHIDCL, “to take immediate rectification measures including deployment of latest technology and proper machineries to ensure that such unfortunate disasters /calamities can be prevented in the future.”
