Nagaland boxers return from U-15 Sub Junior National Boxing Championship

Nagaland’s young pugilists, who represented the State at the 4th U-15 Sub Junior National Boxing Championship held in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, from August 7 to 13, have safely returned home on Saturday. The championship witnessed the dominance of Haryana boxers, who clinched the overall team titles in both boys’ and girls’ categories, with more than 700 participants from across the country competing.

Nagaland fielded seven participants—four girls, Diethoneino, Senthunglo T Jami, Likupu S Shohe, and Marcy Tungoe, and three boys, Kevingulie Rio, Shachu Konyak, and Senkathung Y Kithan. They were accompanied by team coach Kevibu Kapfo and manager KK Nagi.

Speaking on the team’s participation, Nagi expressed gratitude to the Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Kohima for his commitment towards nurturing boxing talent in the State.

“I am grateful for their contributions to nurturing the young generation of boxers and creating opportunities for them to compete at the national level. We look forward to more such opportunities for young, talented boxers from Nagaland,” he said.
