Nagaland Braces for Heavy Rains and Thunderstorms in the Coming Week

Kohima: Residents are advised to stay tuned to official sources and local weather forecasts

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather advisory predicting cloudy conditions and heavy rainfall across the state in the upcoming week. Starting from August 20th, 2023, a surge in weather activity is anticipated, accompanied by frequent rainy spells.

The districts of Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Mon, Kiphire, Tuensang, and Shamator are likely to witness thundershowers and cloudy heavy rains from August 19th to August 24th, 2023. During this period, the minimum and maximum temperatures in the state are expected to fluctuate between 14°C and 34°C.

The NSDMA, under the Home Department, advises the public to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incidents during this period of heightened weather activity. Additionally, the NSDMA calls upon all District Disaster Management Authorities and other concerned departments to remain vigilant and prepared to safeguard lives and properties throughout the monsoon season.
