The Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Election Commission of India, conducted training for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and Assistant Election Officers (AEOs) on Tuesday ATI, Kohima, DIPR informed.
The training was in connection with Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls w.r.t 01.012024 as the qualifying date.
In the welcome message, officiating CEO, Ruokuovituo Khezhie briefed the participants on the importance of registration of names in the electoral roll which is a constitutional right under Article 326 of the Constitution of India. He also stressed the importance of creating awareness among the citizens for registration of names in the electoral roll through Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiatives such as Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC) in schools for future voters, ELC in colleges for new and young voters, Chunav Pathshala in all the polling stations and Voter Awareness Forums (VAF) in different government departments.
Earlier, Assistant CEO, R Toshimeren Aier gave a short introductory note.
Joint CEO, Awa Lorin gave a presentation on Electoral Rolls, while Assistant CEO, R Toshimeren Aier presented on Special Summary Revision w.r.t. 01.01.2024 as the qualifying date, and Assistant Programmer, Limatila Ozukum briefed the participants on ERONET.
