Nagaland’s Chief Election Officer Vyasan R graced the inaugural program of the two-day Wokha District Table Tennis Championship on Tuesday. The event is being organised by the Wokha District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA) at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha.
In his address, Guest of Honour Vyasan R said that in Wokha district, sport is not very popular as the system is not organised to encourage players to take sports seriously, but he appreciated the recent initiatives undertaken by the Wokha District Table Tennis Association. The CEO said that the step might be small but such the tournament will create champions.

Vyasan R also encouraged WDTTA to keep up with its initiatives and strive to do better with every edition.
District Youth Resource Officer, Wokha, K Libemo Jami was the Special Guest at the program.
Dr Kenny Ghosh, representing WDTTA, in his keynote address, stated that the beginning of this journey is embarked with passion, dedication to pursuit excellence in the world of table tennis. He also said that this tournament not only signifies a gathering of athletes and enthusiasts but also serves as a beacon, guiding them towards the grand stage of the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic 2024, an event poised to define the pinnacle of sporting achievements.
Dr Ghosh encouraged the participants to seize this opportunity not merely as a display of athletic prowess but as a celebration of the human spirit – a spirit that transcends limitations, defies odds, and unity while remarking that the Association is driven by its unwavering commitment to the sport and elevating the standards of table tennis within our community.
20 players, including 16 males and 4 females, are participating in the event. The champions of the Wokha District Table Tennis Championship will represent the district at the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic which is to be held in the year 2024.
