After establishing movements against the New Pension Scheme (NPS) in several states, Dr. Manjeet Singh Patel, the convenor of National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS), will be visiting Nagaland from 15 to 17th March to frame a committee as its chapter to establish the movement against NPS in the state.
A press release from NMOPS informed that it will start the movement in Nagaland for the welfare of more than 20 thousand NPS employees.
A meeting regarding the same is scheduled on 17 March in Dimapur with the Medical, Forest, teaching and PWD employees.

The Nagaland government employees had also staged a peaceful protest on 14 March outside Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima under the banner of the Confederation of AlI Nagaland State Service Employee’s Association (CANSSEA) demanding the scrapping of NPS and restoring the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Mention may be made that states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab have already announced or reverted to the OPS following the movement against NPS.
OPS is a defined benefit scheme compared with the NPS or the new pension scheme, which is market-linked with both government and employees making monthly contributions, to be invested in pension funds.
