Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio along with his eleven cabinet ministers, Chief Secretary and Home Commissioner have reached the National capital to hold talks with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and interlocutor AK Mishra.

Rio and a few cabinet Ministers are scheduled to meet interlocutor AK Mishra in the first hour tomorrow followed by a meeting with Shah in the evening.

This development comes following the postponement of 30 June consultative meeting with the tribal bodies and legislators on the proposal of the Centre to ENPO for an autonomous council.

Rio and his cabinets will be discussing the demand of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) and Uniform Civil Code (UCC) with Home Minister Shah.

The Nagaland cabinet on 28 June in it’s cabinet meeting decided to hold talks with the Centre as well as the ENPO to bring in more clarity on the demands of ENPO and to clear up the confusion over the nomenclatures, the Frontier Naga Territory (FNT) or the Autonomous Council.

The State Government is also seeking more clarity on the proposal of the Centre and the ENPO, for an acceptable nomenclature.

Meanwhile, ENPO has invited the Eastern Sumi Hoho (ESH) for a meeting tomorrow at Dimapur.

The ESH on 29 June held a peaceful rally and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio reiterating their desire to exist politically, economically and administratively with present Nagaland.
