Nagaland CM, Deputy CM calls on Amit Shah in Delhi

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton on Monday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. Shah congratulated them for taking oath for another term and also wished them success.

Rio and Patton along with T.R. Zeliang, the other deputy CM, and nine other cabinet ministers were sworn in on 7 March 2023 at Kohima in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister. J.P. Nadda, the national president of BJP too witnessed the ceremony.

In a tweet, the home minister said, “Was visited by CM Nagaland @Neiphiu_Rio Ji & Dy CM @YanthungoPatton Ji. Congratulated them on taking the oath of office for another term. Under the leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji, may the new govt pace up the journey toward prosperity based on the peace achieved till now”.

Y. Patton later said in the micro blogging platform that it was a privilege to meet Shah. “His empathy towards the aspirations of the Naga people is truly inspiring and his insights are instrumental in our efforts to realise the desires of our people,” he added.

On Monday, Nagaland CM, Deputy CM along with Abu Metha, Adviser to CM, also visited Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda where he conveyed his “best wishes for the historic victory in the assembly elections and for the all-round development of the state.”

Rio, in a tweet, said that they had a “positive discussion on various developmental issues for the upliftment of tribals,” while Patton stated, “Grateful for the productive exchange of ideas and for his commitment to the welfare of the tribal communities.”

Later, Rio and Patton met Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla. Patton stated on Twitter that they had a productive discussion on a range of important issues.

The duo had on Sunday called on President of India Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, followed by a visit to the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar at Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas. Cabinet minister Metsubo Jamir accompanied them in the meeting with the Vice President.
