The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has said that the proposed “Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra”, a campaign for ban on cow slaughter, is an example of the assault on India’s diversity and that “holds together the very fabric of the Idea of India”.

In a press release, the Party has also claimed that such assaults against this foundational principle, “authored by elements inimical to the Secular character of our Constitution under the tacit support of the State” is on an alarming rise in the recent times.”

Condemning the programme which scheduled to be held in Kohima on 28th September 2024 under this movement, the NPCC has said that “food choice is a personal matter and a fundamental aspect of individual freedom and any attempts to impose one’s food preferences or beliefs on another in the State would be opposed tooth and nail.”
