Nagaland cricketers shine at NECDC Achiever’s Nite 2024

Shillong: Aloto Sumi received special recognition for being awarded North East Zone Emerging Player Award (Male)

The North East Cricket Development Committee (NECDC) hosted the 3rd NECDC Achiever’s Nite on 1st June 2024, with the ceremony organized by the Meghalaya Cricket Association. This prestigious event recognized the exceptional talents and achievements of cricketers from Nagaland and across the North East, underscoring the significant strides Nagaland is making in the field of sports, particularly cricket.

At the event, Nagaland cricket teams and several players were awarded for outstanding performances:

U-16 Boys Best Batter: Aloto Sumi

U-16 Boys Best Wicketkeeper: Shyerinlo Thong

U-19 Men Best Batter: Yugandhar Singh

U-19 Men Best Bowler: Anil Gupta

U-23 Men Best Batter: Hem Bahadur Chetri

U-23 Men Best Wicketkeeper: Afzal Hussain Choudhary

Special Felicitations:

Aloto Sumi received special recognition for being awarded the North East Zone Emerging Player Award (Male) at the 3rd NECDC Achiever’s Nite, highlighting his exceptional contributions and potential in cricket.

Sentilemla Imsong was honored for scoring the first half-century for the NE Zone in the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal One Day Trophy.

Neizekho Rupreo was recognized for being the highest wicket-taker in the U-23 Men’s Col CK Nayudu Trophy.

State Awards:

Nagaland claimed the title of champions in both the U-23 Men’s Col CK Nayudu Trophy (plate group) and the U-19 Men’s Cooch Behar Trophy (plate group), showcasing the state’s burgeoning prowess in cricket.

In attendance and representing the Nagaland Cricket Association with honor were Kechangulie Rio, President; Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Secretary; and Watinuksung Jamir, Joint Secretary. Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit and leadership driving cricket forward in the region.

As the NECDC Achiever’s Nite 2024 concludes, it is evident that Nagaland is not just participating but leading the way in elevating cricket within the Northeast.
