Nagaland CS calls for joint effort to strengthen water sources and conserve water in state

Chief Secretary Nagaland, J Alam, IAS said that sustainable water sources and water conservation are in the interest of everybody in the state since water availability is becoming a major challenge for the state. He mentioned that apart from the department, the government as well as the people need to be actively involved in this important endeavour.

He said this at Thursday’s meeting to review the Action Plan on Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 2023 at Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, Kohima with participating departments under JSA: CTR 2023, DIPR stated.

During the discussion, the Chief Secretary informed that there are five water-stressed districts in Nagaland, namely Longleng, Kohima, Tuensang, Zunheboto, and Kiphire.

JSA: CTR-2023 was launched on 4 March 2023 in all the districts of the country, covering both rural and urban areas with the theme “Source Sustainability for Drinking Water” and will culminate on 30 November 2023.

As the development of existing water sources is imperative to ensuring potable and quality drinking water, JSA this year is focussing on strengthening the water sources.
