Nagaland: Directorate of Minority Affairs created under Planning & Transformation Department

Kohima: The new directorate will handle Schemes/ Programmes under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, GOI

The Directorate of Minority Affairs under the Planning & Transformation Department, Nagaland has been created following the approval of the Nagaland Cabinet vide No.CAB-1/14/2023 dated 6 April 2023, it was informed.

The following functions and duties will be handled by the new Directorate of Minority Affairs:

  1. Schemes/ Programmes under the Ministry of Minority Affairs (Gol) to be dealt by the new Directorate of Minority Affairs.

1.1 (A) Educational Empowerment:

(i) Scholarship Schemes:-

  1. Pre- Matric Scholarship Scheme
  2. Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme
  3. Merit-cum- Means based Scholarship Scheme

(ii) Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) Scheme

(iii) Nava Savera – Free Coaching and Allied Scheme for the candidates Students belonging to Minority Communities

(iv) Padho Pardesh- Scheme of Interest Subsidy on Educational Loans Overseas Studies for the students belonging to Minority Communities

(v) Nai Udaan- Support for Minority Students clearing Prelims conducted by UPSC. State Public Service Commission’s (PSCs) and Staff Selection Commission

1.2 (B) Economic Empowerment:

1) PM VIKAS Skilling and Training Component

Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) is a skilling initiative from MoMA focusing on the skilling. entrepreneurship and leadership training requirements of the minority and artisan communities across the country The Scheme is intended to be implemented in convergence with the ‘Skill India Mission’ of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and through integration with the Skill India Portal (SIP).

2) Nai Manzil- A scheme to provide education and skill training to the youth from Minority Communities

3) Concessional credit through National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC)

1.3 (C) Infrastructure Development:

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Yikas Karyakram (PMJVK) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Gol with the objective to develop infrastructure projects, which are community assets, in all Districts of the Country including all the Aspirational Districts.

1.4 (D) Special Needs:

    • i) Nai Roshni- The scheme for leadership development of Minority Women
    • ii) Hamari Dharohar- A scheme to preserve rich heritage of minority communities of India under the overall concept of Indian culture
    • iii) Jiyo Parsi- Scheme for Containing Population Decline of Parsis in India
    • iv) Waqf Management-
      • a. Qaumi Waqf Board Taraqqiati- Scheme Scheme of Computerization of Records and Strengthening of State Waqf Boards
      • b. Shahari Waqf Sampatti Yikas Yojana (Scheme for Grant-in- Aid to Waqf-Development of Urban Waqf Properties)
  • v) Research studies, Monitoring and evaluation of Development scheme including publicity
  • vi) Haj Management

1.5 (E) Support to Institutions:

(i) Corpus Fund to Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF)

(ii)        Waqf to National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC)

(iii)       Grants-in-Aid Scheme to State Channelizing Agencies of National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation
