The Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland has announced the successful completion of full and final disbursement of the Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for the Academic Year 2024–25.

The PMS-ST scheme, a welfare initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, provides scholarships to eligible ST students from families with an annual income of up to ₹2.5 lakh, covering studies from Class XI onwards. In Nagaland, the scheme is fully implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), where applications, verification, and payments are processed digitally to ensure transparency and efficiency.

According to the Directorate, a total of 41,793 students were identified as beneficiaries for the year. In the First Phase, scholarships amounting to ₹3,071.49 lakh were released in June 2025 to 22,412 students. Following this, the Utilization Certificate was promptly submitted to the Ministry to secure the remaining funds.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs subsequently sanctioned ₹2,309.91 lakh as the Central share on October 28, 2025. After completing all procedures, the combined Central and State share totalling ₹2,566.57 lakh was credited to the Single Nodal Agency (SNA) on November 10.

The Second Phase and final disbursement was carried out on November 11, covering the remaining 19,381 beneficiaries, thereby completing the full payment for all students under the scheme for 2024–25.

The Directorate has advised students whose names appear in the Second Phase list but have not received the funds to ensure their bank accounts are Aadhaar-linked and enabled for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The beneficiary list is available on the official website of the Directorate of Higher Education.

The PMS-ST scheme operates on a 90:10 funding pattern, jointly supported by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the State Government. The Directorate reaffirmed that scholarships are released only after the Ministry provides the requisite funds, while the State consistently releases its share on time.
