The Nagaland Congress on Wednesday took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a day after BJP Chief JP Nadda released the party vision document in Kohima for the ensuing state Assembly election.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhavan in Kohima, Adv. Mahima Singh- AICC Media Coordinator Nagaland stated that the BJP had a grand campaign launch event yesterday, launching its manifesto filled with tall claims yet again.
Singh also attacked Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton for exclaiming in his preface to the manifesto that in the last five years Nagaland has become the shining star of the north east with the vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Prayaas.
On this statement, she said, “I am coming straight from Mokokchung, getting a first hand experience of the pathetic infrastructure, roads, electricity and water supply, the mockery of promises by the NDPP BJP coalition government.
While the BJP manifesto projects fresh array of promises, it is devoid of reality.
Erratic power outages and buying water even for daily chores is the reality. “Nagaland is still far from the Eutopia that Mr. Patton is living,” Singh said.
She said tall claims have been made by the BJP during the release of their manifesto however, she said BJP has no data, statistics and report card has been provided of their achievements made in the last five years.
Meanwhile, Singh also said Congress is looking forward to more lies as the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) alliance partner of BJP is yet to release their manifesto.
Sharing her experience in Mokokchung she stated that the youth of Mokokchung has vehemently questioned the lies played upon them. They ask where are the jobs promises for them, she said.
“At various public meetings, I met people from youth bodies that vowed publicly they won’t sell their vote out, to the false promises any more and that they’ll vote for the Congress because that is where they see hope,” added Singh.
The most important observation during the visit was regarding incurring hatred amongst the people of Nagaland, incidences of stone pelting and violence were brought up and have been reported to the Police officials. The locals say that the police is very cooperative but it is the politics of hate that is dividing the youth of the state, stated Singh.
In conclusion Singh said, it is time to question those, who are sabotaging the future of Nagaland for they must cling to power by all means. It is to be for the BJP to show its report card.
