The Clean Election Movement Committee, Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association (KBCA) organised a prayer fellowship for the intending candidates of 56th Noklak and 57th Thonoknyu Assembly Constituencies on Tuesday at KBCA Chapel Hall, Komking, Noklak.
During the meeting, a pledge was signed by all the intending candidates of both the constituencies where it stated that the candidate and the party will reaffirm to abide by the Clean Election guidelines throughout the election in faithfulness to God and the teachings given by the Bible.
The pledge also stated that if elected to the public office, selfless service to the people with moral integrity to be extended, and that even in the case of failure, being fully aware of the paths of leadership taken by choice, the candidates will in no way reduce their credibility through false accusations towards good intentions being carried out by the people.

Samuel, finance & property secretary, KBCA, urged the candidates to think of the welfare of the community and stand in the fear of the Lord. He also advised them to commit their plans to God and stand for the Truth.

Sharing his visions and commitments, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate of 56th Noklak A/C, H. Haiying said that he envisions for concrete development for the community and assured to stand for the truth and for the prospect given by God.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate of 56th Noklak A/C, P. Longon, stated that he will serve with commitment knowing the fact and situation of the people. The intending candidate said that he would eradicate the unemployment problem if elected.

National People’s Party (NPP) candidate of 57th Thonoknyu A/C, Benei. M. Lamthiu, stating that politics is all about putting the thoughts, minds and words into action and work in unison. He said that it is a new era of politics for the Khiamniungan community and added that he will lead God’s people in unity.

Nationalist Democratic progressive Party (NDPP) candidate 57th Thonoknyu A/C, S. Heno Khiamniungan told the gathered that he stands for ‘Peace for Development and Development for Peace’, while he also highlighted the works he did in the past years.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP) candidate 57th Thonoknyu A/C, L. Khumo Khiamniungan asserted that he stands by the wisdom given by God, while he also said that he envisions to fulfil the grievances of his people.

The Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) and Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) shared their expectations on behalf of the tribe and student community where KTC President, Thangou urged the intending candidates to conduct the election with peace and apply the election Model Code of Conduct as directed.
KSU President Shangchiu highlighted the future plans of the union and shared it’s grievances. He then urged the candidates to look upon them whosoever gets elected.
During the meeting, a guideline on Clean Election was given by Munno, education & literature secretary, where the candidates, political parties, churches and the general public were advised to abide by the Clean Election guidelines.
