Nagaland election 2023: NDPP star campaigner Rio kick starts Dr. Nicky’s campaign for Kohima Town

Kohima: CM said Nagaland G20 summit will be held in the first week of April 2023 and will be attended by more than 1000 delegates from of 20 countries

Campaign kick-off programme cum rally for Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate for 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency for the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly was held on Tuesday at PWD Junction, Kohima.

Addressing the gathering, star campaigner of the party, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the party has been very attentive to the voice of the supporters to issue the party ticket. MLAs of 8 constituency has been displaced for which the party had to face many issues.

He stated that Kire has been determined to contest with NDPP ticket and urged the people to campaign and vote for Kire and all the NDPP candidates so the alliance party will come back stronger.

Pointing to the result of the last election where NDDP won 18 of 40 and BJP won 14 of 20 Rio said, Party percentage was very low and urged the supporters of the party to work harder for better comeback to work together for the state and its people.

Further, he also pointed that NDPP has issued tickets to two potential women candidates fulfilling the manifesto of the party constitution to empower women and practice gender equality.

Assuring the people of forming the next government Rio said, “Everyone is using my name to win the election as they are certain NDPP will form another government however our alliance is only with BJP, and we are going to get absolute majority”.

He assured to get more than 40 seats in the ensuing election and exuded hope that the seats of the alliance party might even exceed the aforesaid number.

Rio also highlighted the formation of NDPP and said the party was registered on 13 October 2017 and that symbol of the party was received on 7 December. The party had witnessed election within two months of its formation and for the first time Nagaland had a coalition government, he said.

Speaking on the 2018 slogan of the party ‘Change is Coming’, Rio maintained that everything cannot be transformed in a snap. However, the party has bought a lot of changes in the state.

Witnessing the changes and facilities of the state, though it has not achieved its 100%, the star campaigner said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chairman of G20, has accepted Nagaland to be the host of one of the G20 summits which will be held in the first week of April 2023.

It will be attended by more than 1000 delegates from 20 countries, he added.

Earlier, the program was chaired by Kedoulhoulie Huozha, working President of Kohima division, and invocation was pronounced by Tseibou Rutsa. NDPP Vocal Band also performed on the occasion.
