Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio welcomed the G20 delegates to the ‘Land of Festivals’ on Tuesday at the Capital Cultural Hall where a programme was organised in honour of the delegates, a DIPR report informed.
In his address, Rio stated the Nagas, once known as war warriors, have now become peace warriors with the advent of Christianity in the land.
He said that Nagaland is a tribal state comprising of many different tribes spreading not only to our neighbouring states but also beyond the Country. Rich in culture and traditions, the State still practices customary laws under the provision of Article 371(A) enshrined under the Constitution of India, the Chief Minister added.
Rio mentioned that the State lacks in infrastructure, yet it has been endowed with pleasant weather. Naga people live with mother nature since 80℅ of its land is covered by forest, he added.

Rio appreciated the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for extending their help to the State in hosting the G20 meet. He also thanked the delegates for visiting the State and hoped that they have a fruitful and memorable stay in Nagaland.
The Chief Minister also released the Summit Booklet on the occasion.
The guests were enthralled with music and dances including a variety of traditional songs and dances showcasing the vibrant culture of the Naga society. Artists of various age groups performed in varied forms marked the event with their presentations clad in colourful traditional attires.
