Nagaland government announces insurance schemes for police personnel and digital piggery

The Nagaland Credit Empowerment Summit held on September 20 at Noune Resort, Chümoukedima.

 

Considering the two insurance schemes as building a robust insurance ecosystem, the Accidental Insurance for Police Personnel coverage provides critical protection for the police force, ensuring their well-being and financial security in the event of accidental death or disability. Meanwhile, the Digital Piggery Insurance Scheme aims to simplify the insurance process and enhance support for piggery operations. The details of the schemes are as follows:

1. Digital Piggery Insurance Scheme

The State will introduce the innovative digital piggery insurance scheme with TataAIG for the piggery sector. The modalities has been finalized with Finance Department, Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) and Dept of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry.

• The insurance will be provided at the beneficiary door step and the same for claim processing

• The piggery insurance is mandatory under revised CMMFI loans, and made part of loan

• This covers the financial loss to the farmers during the time of pandemic or loss due diseases etc.

• Mention digital verification and online claims processing, which simplify insurance procedures and support piggery operators.

• The insurance premium will be Rs 1557 per pig for a coverage of RS 22000. The premium will vary based on the coverage.

Background: The government has finalized a digital piggery insurance scheme with TataAIG to provide hassle-free insurance and claims processing for the piggery sector, which is one of the most promising livelihood options in Nagaland. This innovative scheme includes digital verification and online verification of the deceased animal through chemical-based carcass disposal, aiming to simplify the insurance process and enhance support for piggery operations.

2. Accidental Insurance for Police Personnel seeks to ensure their well-being and financial security.

Background: The new accidental insurance coverage provides critical protection for the police force, ensuring their well-being and financial security in the event of accidental death or disability. In case of accidental death or full disability, the family will receive an insurance amount of Rs 75 Lakh. For partial disability, Rs 55 Lakh. The MoU was inked on 29th of July 2024, and the insurance is made active. This is a free of cost insurance coverage provided to all Police Personnel drawing their salary from SBI. 24087 serving police personnels are currently onboarded on to this insuran

ce coverage.
